Should You Notify Us When Traveling?

Travel Notifications

Thanks to improvements in fraud detection technology and the added security of chipped and contactless cards, travel notifications for your Capital Credit Union debit and credit cards are no longer necessary – even if you’re traveling abroad. Just make sure the phone numbers and email address associated with your account are up to date. That way, we can quickly and easily contact you if there are any issues with your card during your travels.

In addition, we recommend:

  • Adding your cell phone number to your account so we can automatically send text alerts if we notice potentially fraudulent activity on your account.
  • Using the customizable transaction alerts available in our mobile app and online platform, CU Online, to help you better manage your account while also giving you peace of mind.
  • Using the “Manage Cards” function available in our mobile app and online platform, CU Online, to temporarily disable your debit or credit card if it is lost or stolen.
  • Adding your debit and credit cards to your digital wallet to take advantage of the latest encryption protection. This way, no matter if you’re shopping in-store or online, your personal information is secure.
  • Paying attention to your surroundings when using debit and credit cards in public and shielding the keypad anytime you enter your PIN. Also, be on the lookout for ATM skimming devices; if something looks odd on the ATM, don’t use it.

At Capital Credit Union, our members’ financial safety and security is a priority. If you have questions, our Contact Center is available 24/7 at 701.255.0042 or 1.800.735.6922.
