Mobile Deposit Tips

  • You must write “For Mobile Deposit Only” on the back of the check, along with your signature
  • Take photo in an area with good lighting
  • Keep your paper check for at least 90 days
  • Your check may show as deposited but the funds from that check will generally be available the following business day.

Mobile Deposit Limits

  • $3,000 maximum per check
  • $5,000 maximum in any single day
  • $10,000 maximum per week

What is mobile deposit?
Mobile deposit allows you to take pictures of the front and back (endorsed) of a check payable to you and make a deposit to your account using your camera-enabled mobile device.

Who is eligible to use mobile deposit?
In order to be eligible for mobile deposit, in addition to being enrolled in online banking (CU Online) and having the mobile app downloaded to your phone, you must be a member in good standing.

When will my deposit be processed?
Your check may show as deposited into your account, but the funds available will generally be available the following business day. Some restrictions apply; please see the Additional Information paragraph below.

What types of checks are NOT accepted?

  • Checks without “For Mobile Deposit Only” written on the back
  • Altered checks
  • Checks without authentic, authorized signatures
  • Checks drawn on financial institutions outside the U.S.
  • Checks that are not payable in U.S. currency
  • Checks with a “non-negotiable” watermark
  • Savings bonds

My check was written more than six months ago.  Can I still deposit it?
No. The check is considered “stale-dated.” You should request to have the person who issued the check reissue it with a current date.

I have a check made to someone else.  Can I deposit it into my account?
No. This is considered a third-party check. Only checks made payable to the account holder(s) are accepted.  Checks made payable jointly will not be accepted unless it is deposited into an account that is jointly owned by those on the check.

What do I do with the check after it’s been deposited?
Write “VOID” on the check and keep it for 90 days.

All deposits are subject to Capital Credit Union’s Funds Availability Policy. Deposits are subject to verification.  Check holds apply and vary based on various account and deposit factors such as size and source of check, account balance, length of member relationship etc. You are liable for any service or late charges incurred on your account due to the rejection of a check. The credit union must be notified of errors as soon as you are aware of them. Do not attempt to re-deposit or re-present the original check.
