If you’re a high school senior or undergraduate college student, we encourage you to apply for our Howard J. Snortland academic scholarship!

We award seven $1,000 scholarships each year to students pursuing an associate or undergraduate degree, or technical certificate, at a North Dakota or Minnesota accredited college, university, or technical school.

Scholarship applications are now available, and you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a Capital Credit Union member with your own account.
  • Plan to attend an accredited North Dakota or Minnesota college, university, or technical school.
  • Plan to enroll in either a two- or four-year degree program, or technical program.
  • May not be a child or direct relative of a Capital Credit Union employee or board member.
  • Pursue an associate or undergraduate degree, or technical certificate.
  • May not be a previous recipient of the Howard J. Snortland Scholarship.

Completed applications must be submitted with requested materials by March 2, 2018.

Since the inception of the Howard J. Snortland scholarship program in 1996, we have awarded $101,500 in academic scholarships to more than 100 student-members.

Snortland was instrumental in helping Capital Credit Union grow from its humble roots to the thriving financial cooperative it is today. He dedicated 60 years of volunteer service to the credit union as a board member, helping us fulfill our Members First mission.

Snortland was also a relentless advocate of Capital Credit Union and the credit union industry, educating members, elected officials and local citizens about its cooperative structure, member-centric products, personalized service and community involvement.
